The participants gathered at the business center of the Free Economic Zone.
– We live in an era of major changes in global politics, the economy, and technology. Global competition is becoming tougher. In such circumstances, the ability to make effective use of one’s internal potential is especially valuable. We have learned to do this. By strengthening the resilience of our economy, industry, and agriculture, we have proven that we are capable of creating a country for a comfortable life, – emphasized Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Ivan Krupko.
The governor shared the figures: over the years of the forum’s existence, 117 agreements have been signed worth more than USD 2.7 billion. Thanks to these agreements, more than 3,000 jobs have been created not only in major cities but also in remote districts and settlements affected by the Chernobyl accident. This year’s catalog offers partners 70 investment proposals.
– All this is proof that the forum works for the benefit of people. We expect from it not only figures and signed agreements but also fresh ideas and modern solutions, – the governor summed up.
This year, the business meeting is attended by Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic Vladislav Tatarinovich. In his speech, he emphasized interregional cooperation:
– The legal basis for interregional cooperation is the accumulated contractual framework. These are treaties, agreements, and roadmaps, which serve as the foundation for active work and ongoing dialogue at all levels. The agreements reached make it possible to expand the scope of cooperation and develop new directions. At the forum, the parties are focused on establishing direct bilateral ties. The Council of the Republic takes the most active part in fostering such cooperation.
An example of effective interregional cooperation is the partnership between the Gomel and Bryansk regions. Acting Deputy Governor of the Bryansk Region Denis Amelichev spoke about joint projects:
– Our regions are strategic partners and true friends. Cooperation in all areas is built on mutual understanding. Our task is to preserve all the agreements reached and to strengthen them.
According to Denis Amelichev, among all Belarusian regions, the Gomel region is the flagship in cooperation with the Bryansk region. The southeastern region of Belarus accounts for more than 30% of Bryansk’s foreign trade turnover, which continues to grow and in the first half of the year reached 112 million US dollars.
The main reserve lies in the implementation of joint projects. These include the production of agricultural machinery at “Bryanskselmash”, the manufacture of components for high-speed railways, finished railway axles, and the supply of Union-brand machine tools. Significant potential also exists in the field of residential construction.
Representatives of Serbia expressed strong interest in cooperation. As noted by Ilina Vukailović, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Belarus, the participation of the delegation from Serbia is an important step in strengthening practical cooperation and constructive interaction with Gomel-based enterprises, and the Embassy will provide comprehensive support for achieving joint goals.
During the plenary session, businessmen, banks, and representatives of cities from the southeastern region of Belarus, provinces of China, and the Altai Krai presented their potential.
A number of agreements and bilateral documents were signed.
